As difficult as it may be to believe, Legion Lake was an often-overlooked stop for visitors to Custer State Park. Legion Lake Lodge is a full replacement of the former lodge building. The new design both draws the attention of travelers along the adjacent highway and orients the building interior to focus on the natural beauty of Legion Lake. Large windows flood the interior of the lakeside dining space with views and natural light. The dining space spills out to outdoor seating and the reconstructed dock. Exposed wood structure and finishes paired with regional stone help enforce the lodge feel. 
The interior includes space for retail sales, cabin and activities rental services, a food service counter, full service commercial kitchen, and staff work and break areas.
